About Ben

Design & Illustration with 20+ Years of Creative Impact

I help brands tell visual stories that invite attention and build trust. Over two decades, I’ve worked with leading agencies, global brands, and publishers—from The New York Times to Bloomberg, Xbox, Honda, and Wealthsimple. (And many non-profits.) My work has been recognized by D&AD, American Illustration, and Communication Arts, and featured in books by TASCHEN, Die Gestalten Verlag and Princeton Architectural Press.

Clients & Collaborations

I’ve had the privilege of working with:
New York Times, Bloomberg, Xbox, Honda, Wealthsimple, Canada Goose, PEN Canada, Pentagram, Canada Post, Mozilla, Shopify, Cossette, Underline Studio, Soapbox Design, Honda, HADW, VSA, Landor, the Canadian Olympic Committee, and many more. When I was an art student back in the early 2000's i worked at CBC News Online and in prepress at a printer PLM Group, as well as doing photo assisting and retouching for small photography / design studios and new business development for a web design firm CPOL. Prior to that, in high school I had a paper route and worked at McDonalds.

Publications & Features

My illustrations and design work have appeared in The New York Times MagazineTIMEEsquire Black BookThe Atlantic, Taschen’s Illustration Now!, Die Gestalten Verlag’s Visual Families, and Princeton Architectural Press’s Over and Over. My limited-edition prints have sold out at both the AGO Store and Indigo.

Certifications & Ongoing Learning

Academic & Teaching Background

With an M.A. in Creative Imaging from the University of Huddersfield (EU full scholarship) and a diploma in Illustration from Sheridan College, I’ve taught at Sheridan, written design curriculum for Redeemer U and taught for 7 years at Miami Ad School to 2024. I’ve led courses in visual impact, typography, motion graphics, and brand creation—helping students grow their craft and confidence.

A Personal Note

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is often part of my week too. It’s called the gentle art because there’s no striking—it's a grappling technique derived from Judo. Training has taught me resilience and embodied cognition. Problem-solving when your body learns to think on its own. Past scenarios made me realize I had no answer to a range or real world threats and that needed to change. It gives skills in being present, adapting, and finding a way out of tight spots.

Rest matters as much as work. As rest is recovery. So, you might find me making dinner for my family, talking with a friend on a rooftop patio, or tinkering on the piano during off hours. I've felt I was in a creative desert before. But that desert can be a healing time to prepare you for a tsunami of creative energy.

I work on a project basis, with most engagements starting in the mid–four figures for about a week of focused work. I take on a limited number of projects each year, so if you think we might be a fit, the best next step is to submit a Project Inquiry so we can explore your goals, budget, and creative vision.
