Creating custom lettering we thought would be our main challenge. The images shown were selected by the client from my work for the treatment. We learned it would be faster and cheaper to adapt an existing brush script instead. So on each title card, I altered repeating letters so each character would be unique.
process
Once the art director approved the placement and letter form alternates, we animated the draw-ins in After Effects. For animation we used the path tool to draw curves along the letterforms. That curve was linked to a mask that reveals the lettering. With the help of a freelance friend based in Brooklyn (Jeremy Leung) we were able to finish a lot of content in a fairly tight timeline.
